Anti-wrinkle injections can be used as a prevention or treatment of fine lines, wrinkles and deep facial furrows. Anti-wrinkle injections are used to smooth facial lines and wrinkles typically in the upper face – forehead lines, frown lines and ‘crow’s feet; More advanced techniques include treatment of the lower face and neck to prevent facial jowling.  

Anti-wrinkle Injections use small amounts of a purified protein which is derived from a bacterium, when injected into specific muscles of the face the medication causes these muscles to relax softening fine lines and wrinkles resulting in a fresher, rejuvenated and youthful appearance. Anti-wrinkle injections are most useful in the upper face, specifically frown lines, horizontal forehead lines and wrinkles radiating out from the side of the eyes (crow’s feet). 

It generally takes between 3-14 days after the treatment for the maximum effect to develop fully and re-treatment should not occur within that period. The effect can last up to four months, although with regular treatments it may be possible to reduce the dosage. 

The most common areas for anti-wrinkle injections that are requested by our patients are the dynamic lines around the eyes and forehead. A combination of these areas can be treated with anti-wrinkle injections for a more complete facial rejuvenation. 

Frown Lines

 Also known as the number 11 lines or “cranky” lines which are the vertical lines between the eyebrows. 

Crow’s Feet

The lines around the outer corner of the eyes. 

Forehead Lines

The horizontal forehead creases. 

Bunny Lines 

Lines across the bridge of the nose caused by crinkling the sides of the nose.

Horizontal lines on the chin.

Nefertiti Lift

A Nefertiti Lift is the treatment of the platysma muscles in the neck with anti-wrinkle injections to treat sagging jowls and neck bands. This treatment will also reduce the reappearance of sagging jowls with advancing age. 

Advise our doctors and nurses if you are taking blood thinning medications, regardless of whether you are expecting to have treatment or just a consultation. 

Maximise facial activity for half an hour after your treatment (such as frowning, raising your eyebrows and squinting) and avoid lying down horizontal for 4 hours. Avoid exercise for 24 hours and do not have facial treatments, rub or massage the treated area.
